Pratiques
L'aventure a
débuté par une journée d'entraînement sous un soleil éclatant, un vendredi
idéal. François a pu comparer ses temps avec ses principaux concurrents de la
classe Rotax Masters, ce qui lui a permis de mieux
appréhender et de s'adapter aux conditions changeantes du circuit, exacerbées
par la présence de plus de 200 pilotes.
Le lendemain matin, deux sessions
d’entraînement étaient prévues avant le déjeuner, mais la météo en a décidé
autrement : la pluie était au rendez-vous! L’équipe KCP a eu suffisamment de
temps pour préparer le kart 348 avec un réglage adapté à la pluie avant de
s'élancer sur la piste. Lors de la première session, François a dominé,
réalisant le meilleur temps avec une avance de plus d'une seconde sur Sébastien
(310) et Alexandre (343).
La pluie persistant pour la deuxième
session, François a de nouveau excellé, signant le meilleur chrono avec près
d'une seconde et demie d'avance sur Alexandre (343) et Sébastien (310).
Qualifications
La session de qualification pour la
classe Rotax Masters était prévue en début d'après-midi.
Bien que la pluie ait cessé quelques heures auparavant, une légère bruine
maintenait le circuit humide. Sur les 17 karts engagés, trois ont tenté le pari
d'utiliser des pneus secs, tandis que tous les autres, y compris François, ont
opté pour des pneus pluie.
Vers la fin de la qualification, la
piste a commencé à sécher, permettant, grâce à leur pneus
pour le sec, à Simon (313) et Christophe (346) de devancer François, qui a
terminé à la troisième place. Cette qualification a bouleversé la hiérarchie
habituelle de la classe Rotax Masters, plaçant les
leaders du championnat en milieu de peloton pour la course préfinale.
Course Préfinale (10 tours)
En fin d'après-midi, sous un ciel de plus
en plus menaçant mais avec un circuit sec, François s'est élancé en troisième
position pour cette préfinale, tous les pilotes ayant
choisi des pneus adaptés aux conditions sèches.
L’action sur la piste a été intense, et
François a été au cœur des batailles, franchissant la ligne d’arrivée en
troisième position, à seulement 0,14 seconde derrière Angelo (344), tandis que
Simon (313) remportait la course avec plus de 5 secondes d'avance.
Course Finale (15 tours)
Dimanche matin, le soleil brillait sur
le circuit, mais les nuages commençaient à faire leur retour. Les prévisions 
annonçaient
clairement que la pluie arriverait après la course finale.
François a pris le départ en troisième
position, mais a rapidement perdu quelques places. L’intensité de la course
était palpable, les temps au tour des dix premiers étant regroupés dans la même
seconde. Chaque erreur, chaque mouvement en accordéon entraînait des pertes,
mais également des gains.
Finalement, François a terminé
cinquième, derrière Michel (378), Simon (313), Sébastien (310) et Sylvain
(364).
Ce fut un excellent week-end pour François et l'équipe KCP, avec
de bonnes sessions d'entraînement, de solides résultats et des temps au tour
qui se sont approchés des vainqueurs à moins d’un dixième de seconde.
François tient à remercier Sylvain Duquette et Jean-François
Champagne, ses mécaniciens pour le week-end, ainsi que Daniel Héroux, Mko Vincent et Karine Lachance pour leur aide et leurs
photos. Un grand merci également à Sylvain Chénard et
Michel Vézina pour leur ouverture à partager les infos, ainsi qu'à Stéphane
Perron pour le réglage exceptionnel de son kart sous la pluie! Merci enfin à
Mila et Éloi pour leur soutien indéfectible!

Practices
The adventure
began with a training day under a brilliant sun, an ideal Friday. François was
able to compare his times with his main competitors in the Rotax Masters class,
which helped him better understand and adapt to the changing conditions of the
circuit, exacerbated by the presence of over 200 drivers.
The following
morning, two training sessions were scheduled before lunch, but the weather had
other plans: rain was on the agenda! The KCP team had enough time to prepare
kart 348 with a rain setup before heading out on the track. In the first
session, François excelled, achieving the best time with an advantage of over a
second over Sébastien (310) and Alexandre (343).
With the rain
continuing into the second session, François excelled once again, setting the
best time with nearly a second and a half lead over Alexandre (343) and
Sébastien (310).
Qualifying
The qualifying
session for the Rotax Masters class was scheduled for early afternoon. Although
the rain had stopped a few hours earlier, a light drizzle kept the circuit wet.
Of the 17 karts entered, three took the gamble of using dry tires, while all others,
including François, opted for rain tires.
Towards the end
of qualifying, the track began to dry, allowing Simon (313) and Christophe (346)on dry tires to surpass François, who finished in third
place. This qualifying session disrupted the usual hierarchy of the Rotax
Masters class, placing the championship leaders in the middle of the pack for
the pre-final race.
Pre-Final Race (10 laps)
In the late
afternoon, under increasingly threatening skies but with a dry circuit, François
started in third position for this pre-final, with all drivers choosing tires
suitable for dry conditions.
The action on
the track was intense, and François was at the heart of the battles, crossing
the finish line in third place, just 0.14 seconds behind Angelo (344), while
Simon (313) won the race with
a 5-second lead.
Final Race (15 laps)
On Sunday
morning, the sun was shining on the circuit, but clouds were starting to
return. The forecasts clearly indicated that rain would arrive after the final
race.
François
started in third position but quickly lost a few places. The intensity of the
race was palpable, with the lap times of the top ten drivers being grouped
within the same second. Every mistake, every accordion movement led to losses,
but also gains.
Ultimately,
François finished fifth, behind Michel (378), Simon (313), Sébastien (310), and
Sylvain (364).
It was an excellent weekend for François and the KCP
team, with good training sessions, solid results, and lap times that approached
the winners by a tenth of a second.
François wishes to express his gratitude to Sylvain
Duquette and Jean-François Champagne, his mechanics for the weekend, as well as
Daniel Héroux, Mko Vincent, and Karine Lachance for

Première course
de la saison pour l'équipe KCP.
Malheureusement, notre choix de set-up
trop agressif nous a joué un mauvais tour en qualification, ce qui a conduit
François à se qualifier en 9ème position.
En préfinale, avec un set-up amélioré, la performance du kart numéro 348 s'est
nettement améliorée et une belle remontée a été interrompue à deux tours de la
fin. François B. a tenté un dépassement sur Simon, qui a défendu sa position en
freinant beaucoup trop tard à la fin de la longue ligne droite. Cela a entraîné
un tête-à-queue pour Simon. François, qui le suivait de près, a tout fait pour
les éviter, mais étant donné que Simon bloquait le virage, le contact était
inévitable... Trois karts impliqués, trois essieux à remplacer.
Pour la finale, François est parti de la 9ème place et après de
belles batailles avec Simon, Sylvain et Michel, il
a franchi la ligne d'arrivée en 7ème position... Cependant, suite
à la distribution de 
pénalités, nous
nous retrouvons classés 9ème.

(nous n'avons pas chômé

First race of the season for Team KCP.
Unfortunately, our choice of a too aggressive setup
backfired during qualifying, which resulted in François qualifying only in 9th
position.
In the pre-final, with an improved setup, the
performance of kart number 348 significantly improved, and a great comeback was
interrupted two laps before the end. François B. attempted to overtake Simon,
who defended his position by braking way too late at the end of the long
straight. This resulted in a spin for Simon. François, who was closely
following, did everything to avoid them, but since Simon was blocking the turn,
contact was inevitable... Three karts involved, three axles to replace.
For the final, François started from 9th place and
after some intense battles with Simon, Sylvain, and Michel, he crossed the
finish line in 7th position... However, due to penalty distributions, we ended
up being classified 9th.
A huge thank you to Jean-François, our mechanic for
the weekend (we work a lot in the paddock
). We also
want to thank our supporters: Fabienne, Sylvain D., Roxanne, Éliana, and Laurie. Maude, Maxime, and CashFlow.
